The week after Easter we went to visit Mum.  As she is 'nearly 90', and has been for the past nearly two years, we stayed in the nearby (boutique) hotel.  It's a very nice hotel, originally a Georgian house, now a hotel with seven rooms, all en suite, a bar, and a restaurant becoming famous for its wood fired pizza oven ( Read more... )

Apparently a commuter used the time which might otherwise have been wasted by trains not showing, or otherwise delayed, productively last year. A Frau Weber knitted a scarf with different coloured stripes to reflect the length of each delay.

Not entirely put off train travel by last weekend's debacle (see previous entry) I decided to take in a bit of culture up in Town, having first checked that BiL thought he would be fully up to it.  He broke his leg a few months back, is out of plaster a while since, but still on crutches when out and about.  BiL reckoned that he was.

As four* of the women in the family have birthdays in October, we generally try to get as many of the thirteen of us (plus assorted girlfriends as they feel sufficiently brave) together for at least one Saturday.  This is to help us all celebrate.  To help keep up with each other, cos boy are we spread wide these days.  Also to keep in touch with ( Read more... )

Last week was busy-ish, but in a different way.  Monday our Pilates teacher was off on holiday, so I actually got to take the Dyson round the ground floor at least.  After that it needed emptying.  Thanks, H.  Really must repeat the exercise, this time with a duster, and do upstairs as well ( Read more... )

Heigh ho!  H went back to work today.  Up at 5am, leave around 6am, or maybe a tad earlier to pay for his new annual season ticket for the train and the bus he gets to and from work.
